Personally I'm inclined to think that family pictures are more or less harmless. Yes, there's always a chance the wrong person will see them but there's always a chance the wrong person will see your kids in real life and harm them.
I'm amazed at just how much person information some people post. That seems like far more of a problem in the making than the odd picture.
