When I did the eye test for my driver's license, I was told that I needed glasses to drive. That's how I learned that I needed glasses.

When I went to art school for the scholarship competition, and found out that I couldn't see the still life or the figure for life drawing from far away.

When I learned to drive my vision was very slightly short of the required standard so I got glasses for driving. Curiously my vision improved as I got older and I don't need them any more.
