Sometimes when Christian forums have discussions that get a little strong there is the argument that it's not biblically allowed. And yet we see that Paul and Barnabas engaged in sharp debate in Acts 15:2
"So Paul and Barnabas engaged these men in sharp debate. The two of them were appointed, along with some other believers , to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question."
Sharp debate implies that this wasn't an easy going discussion that Paul and Barnabas had to have.
