Now that the debates are over and the focus is not so sharp on the candidates' policies we are left with nothing else than to patiently wait for the election and the results. Will Donald Trump win? Will the Republican Party retain control of Senate and House? Or is the USA voting public in the mood for change?

More likely we'll wait for the results and wonder what new revelations will come to light in the meantime.

It's always hard to know how much of the "revelations" are real and how much are embellished or fabricated. It does seem very convenient that apparently a woman could be molested by an internationally known billionaire and only remember a few weeks before the election, likewise it seems very convenient that Hillary's apparently shady dealings through her foundation should suddenly come to light right before the election.

The timing is interesting in both cases and I do not doubt that there is a degree of opportunism in it. Donald Trump's accusers likely were prompted into revealing their claimed encounters with him because he offered a blanket denial of ever having done any of the things he mentioned in the bus conversation with Billy Bush.

When reports surfaced that one of his accusers had ties to the Clinton Foundation that also caused eyebrows to rise. Of course with the media so partisan in the US it's hard to know just when stories are embellished.

It may be that the alleged ties are fictitious or if not then casual. But the USA is a very divided nation as far as their politics goes.

It may be the ties are very loose or non-existent, it may be that the woman in question raised an allegation for no reason other than to discredit Trump. There's really no way of knowing.

But the USA is a very divided nation as far as their politics goes.

You can say that again :)

Of course one problem with social media is that it seems every little thing is blown out of proportion for a day or two and then forgotten, and this wonderful age of "citizen journalism" means little more than raking enough mud and throwing it around hoping some of it sticks. Then you get the people who seriously think that Hillary's shrill voice or Donald's tendency to not talk directly to the microphone are good reasons not to vote for them, and I worry about the wisdom of giving all adults the right to vote.

By now I suspect that anyone minded to vote for Hillary is untroubled by the ongoing allegations of wrongdoing regarding emails and anyone minded to vote for Donald is equally untroubled by the ongoing allegations of impropriety (or at least of the opinion that The Other Guy is worse that Our Guy's imperfections are just the price we have to pay), that most of the political chatter might as well stop, and perhaps be replaced with nothing more than "I voted for (candidate)".

Everything points to Hillary, the only real question is the Senate and House races
