It's good that we should show one another grace at an individual level, given most of us have had to make a best guess based on our own appetite for risk and perceived vulnerability to a new disease.
We shouldn't be too quick to give those in power a free pass, given how many of them ignored science and anything even remotely resembling common sense, expecting the people to follow rules that they themselves wouldn't follow. I'm thinking specifically of Fuhrer Newsom going on his birthday jolly while demanding Californians stay home, Fuhrer Wolf banning large gatherings only to then march in a BLM protest (apparently BLM is a "worthy cause" but 13,000,000 Pennsylvanians wanting to feed their families isn't), and the like. And let's not get started on High Lord Forki-tongue and his wavering on whether masks work, then his attempts to justify lying to people, and then the final revelation that cloth masks really don't do much at all despite endless rules saying they did.
