I had a car stolen....
I was 16 or 17. I was taking classes at the local community college and so my parents supplied me with a car, a 1990 Buick Century Limited station wagon...with a V6 and power everything. It actually was very plushy and quite powerful... and I liked it.... but kind of a "grandpa" car. Nonetheless, I called it my "Surfmobile" (I was still a surfer in those days).
One day, I parked generally where I usually did in the student parking lot. But when I returned.... the car was gone BUT IN IT'S PLACE was a pile of all my stuff! Yeah, whoever took the car took the time to remove all my stuff! My CD's, my books and things, my jacket, even the stuff in the glove box! Amazing! There it was, piled up neatly in the parking space!
I contacted security who said they had recently gone past that spot and didn't see this, so they concluded the crime must have just happened. I called the police and they came out. They told me that older cars like this generally are just abandoned and it would be recovered, but sometimes they are driven across the border into Mexico and sold cheap in which case it would not be recovered. Well... it was never recovered. It was not insured but my parents didn't pay much for it. Mom ended up getting a new car and gave me her Camry which I owned for several years.
