I don't think it has anything to do with fear and more about recognizing separation of church and state and it can logically be argued that public grounds, should not promote any type of religion.

These monuments don't bother me specifically, but I understand the argument.

This should not happen, take God out of the country as has been done and it will bring trouble

I disagree.

Each person is free to worship the God of their choosing, go to the church of their choosing and teach their kids the same in their church and in their home. I don't see how not having a certain monument on pubic property is any threat to any of that.
