Ohio voters approved a constitutional amendment on Tuesday that ensures access to abortion and other forms of reproductive health care, the latest victory for abortion rights supporters since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year.

Ohio became the seventh state where voters decided to protect abortion access after the landmark ruling and was the only state to consider a statewide abortion rights question this year.

I read yesterday that more and more voters want the right to kill their babies and to have that right for others. It's a sad state the nation has become.

1. One "problem" is that no alternative was offered, no "option b" to this proposition. It was presented as the Liberal/Pro-Death scenario - that there are two (and only two) options: Abortion for any or no reason whatsoever until (at least!) the last cell of the last toe exits the birth canal. THAT, or abortions in NO cases at all. When they present THAT as the ONLY possibility - up to two-thirds of the people will go with allowing abortion. But when an alternative is offered... say, abortion for any reason up to 15 weeks and after that for reasons of rape, incest and medical danger to the mother... the position of most Republicans in congress... the position of most European nations, of Japan and South Korea... well, then then the sides switch places.

2. Trump caused a problem for Republicans (who are more apt to be pro-life). His rant about how rigged and flawed elections are has caused a lot of Republicans to not vote. Voting among Republicans is way down. This is impacting all elections since 2020. Republicans need to embrace voting again.
