Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

Mark wrote of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mark identifies his deity as the Son of God, and that he is Christ, the Messiah.

Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

Mark goes on in regard to John's baptism as being the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ. John's baptism was for the remission of sins, to cleanse Israel as priests in the coming Davidic kingdom, in which, Israel would reign with Christ on earth.

Mark 1:7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
John also came to identify Jesus as the Christ to Israel.

1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Jesus preached the gospel of the prophetic Davidic kingdom on earth to Israel.

During the earthly ministry of Christ, Israel was to believe that Jesus is Christ, the Son of God for eternal life. Israel would by faith, have eternal life by believing in the name of Jesus.

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Israel had to believe on the name of Jesus for eternal life, but to enter the kingdom on earth they had to be baptized. Israel had to obey the commandments to be physically saved to enter the kingdom.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

This clearly shows that there is not just one gospel in the Bible. The gospel of the kingdom is not the gospel of Christ that Paul preached. According to Paul's gospel we are to believe more than the name of Jesus; we are to believe Christ died for our sins and rose again for our justification unto eternal life.

Paul, after his conversion, preached Jesus is Christ, the Son of God.

Acts 9:20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

Paul was not at odds with God's purpose for Israel. Paul preached Jesus out of the law and prophets.

Acts 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Paul preached Jesus Christ according to the mystery and the scriptures of the prophets. The mystery, that God would reveal by Paul, was the salvation of the cross to all who believe, apart from Israel and it's covenants. Revealed was the church, a new creature, the Body of Christ. Revealed was all blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

I don't follow your point, Doug. I do not see how Mark 1:1 shows a completely different gospel from what Paul expressed. I don't see any connection to your thoughts in the verses you chose.

Hello

I was conveying that the gospel during the earthly ministry of Christ said nothing about the cross, as revealed to Paul. At this time ( during the time of the book of Mark ) to be saved to eternal life they had to believe on the name of Jesus. They had to believe he is the Christ, the Son of God.

They also had to believe the gospel of the kingdom, and obey the commandments to enter the prophetic Davidic kingdom in which Israel will reign with Christ.

Where do you find the teaching in the four gospels that "to be saved to eternal life one had to believe in the name of Jesus" and had to believe he is the Messiah, the Son of God"?
Does Jesus never speak of his death and what his death meant?
You add many legalistic claims, but I wonder if Jesus actually claimed what you are claiming.

So tell me what did they have to do/believe in order to be saved? Just curious since I know that they rejected Him as the Son of God and their unbelief condemned them so it would seem to me in my ignorance that they did have to believe

Do you wish to answer my question?

Does Jesus never speak of his death and what his death meant?

I'm looking for biblical support from Doug regarding his assertions. Would you like to provide support for him?

No I want you to defend what you said
Not until my question is answered. What I said was a question, not an assertion. Please answer the question.

Father forgive them for they know not what they do. The instances where faith in Jesus made them whole points to it as well as the ones who were not in Jesus's hometown where He could not do many miracles because of their unbelief. Romans where it says to confess with your mouth that jesus is Lord and believe in your heart and you will be saved Romans 10:9-10 if memory serves me well. Now answer what you are asserting

Hello

First of all, you might want to re read the post....I just edited it....thanks , based on your response I realized it was not clear.

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

This verse clearly states Israel was to believe in the name of Jesus that he is Christ, the Son of God.

Here is another

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name

one more

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus spoke of his death for the new testament which is for Israel and Judah only.

What claims are you asking about?

This verse clearly states Israel was to believe in the name of Jesus that he is Christ, the Son of God.
"These" refers to the entire book. To whom did John write his gospel? Was it written to Jews, Gentiles, or both? Who is the "ye" referring to?

The verse doesn't tell us the process by which people would believe and there is no mention of Israel. Could it be that you are projecting on to the passage what the passage doesn't articulate?
Here is another

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name
Again, what is the process? You seem to have a preconception regarding a process that is different than what Paul shares. I don't observe your claims in this verse.
How does a person come to believe? Did anything change between Jesus time on earth and Paul's preaching? This verse does not show any contradiction.
one more

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
How does a person come to believe?Does this verse contradict Paul as you claimed? Your verses do not support your initial assertion.
Jesus spoke of his death for the new testament which is for Israel and Judah only.
Where does Jesus state that his death is for Israel and Judah only? What passage supports your assertion?
What claims are you asking about?

Mark wrote of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mark identifies his deity as the Son of God, and that he is Christ, the Messiah.

According to Paul's gospel we are to believe more than the name of Jesus; we are to believe Christ died for our sins and rose again for our justification unto eternal life.

Same one and only good news. Same one and only gospel that saves.

Paul, after his conversion, preached Jesus is Christ, the Son of God.

That is what was preached before Paul!

Paul was not at odds with God's purpose for Israel. Paul preached Jesus out of the law and prophets.

That is just too strange a thing to say. You give Paul some different and better teaching than Jesus who say to believe in him.

It's not Paul's gospel as opposed to Jesus' gospel!

Paul calls it the Gospel of God, and Paul calls it the gospel of Christ!

If we preach it, we can even call it OUR GOSPEL!

Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God—

Romans 15:16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 11:7 Was it a sin for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by preaching the gospel of God to you free of charge?

1 Thessalonians 2:8 so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.

1 Thessalonians 2:9 Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you.

1 Peter 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Paul calls it the GOSPEL OF CHRIST.

Romans 15:19 by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

1 Corinthians 9:12 If others have this right of support from you, shouldn’t we have it all the more? But we did not use this right. On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.

2 Corinthians 2:12[ Ministers of the New Covenant ] Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the Lord had opened a door for me,

2 Corinthians 9:13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

...and more.

Mark goes on in regard to John's baptism as being the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ. John's baptism was for the remission of sins, to cleanse Israel as priests in the coming Davidic kingdom, in which, Israel would reign with Christ on earth.

Jesus preached the gospel of the prophetic Davidic kingdom on earth to Israel.

Jesus preached the good news, the one and only gospel that saves; he preached it first to the Jews who believed, and he said when he is crucified then all can come to him to be saved.

During the earthly ministry of Christ, Israel was to believe that Jesus is Christ, the Son of God for eternal life. Israel would by faith, have eternal life by believing in the name of Jesus.

Israel had to believe on the name of Jesus for eternal life, but to enter the kingdom on earth they had to be baptized. Israel had to obey the commandments to be physically saved to enter the kingdom.

This clearly shows that there is not just one gospel in the Bible.

John the baptizer, Jesus himself, and the apostle Paul all preached the one and only gospel that saves, and it is about repenting of your sins and having faith in Jesus.

JOHN THE BAPTIZER

Luke 3:8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,

PAUL

Acts 20:21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

Acts 26:20 First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

JESUS

Luke 13:3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

The gospel of the kingdom is not the gospel of Christ that Paul preached.
Let me help you out 'brother' hahahaha

John the baptizer prepared the way for Jesus to save them. We still have to repent of our sins to prepare our hearts for Jesus to live there.

John 1:23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.'"

John the baptizer prepared the way for Jesus. He came preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins (Luke 1:76-80).

According to Paul's gospel we are to believe more than the name of Jesus; we are to believe Christ died for our sins and rose again for our justification unto eternal life.
That IS believing in Jesus!

Paul, after his conversion, preached Jesus is Christ, the Son of God.

Paul was not at odds with God's purpose for Israel. Paul preached Jesus out of the law and prophets.

The mystery, that God would reveal by Paul, was the salvation of the cross to all who believe, apart from Israel and it's covenants. Revealed was the church, a new creature, the Body of Christ. Revealed was all blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

Paul is not the one who spoke a better gospel than Jesus himself! JESUS IS THE GOOD NEWS.

Hello

I like our discussions......
Man, this means so much to me. What you said right there means more than I can tell you. Let's keep discussing. I'll not post so many scriptures at once if that will help.

You have a lot to unpack here....too much for me .....sorry

Let me just address this statement:

I said......Jesus preached the gospel of the prophetic Davidic kingdom on earth to Israel.

Okay now, did you know that David's throne was really God's throne? (On earth of course.) The Jews wanted an earthly king. God was there King but the Jews wanted a man over them like the other people and nations. God said His people rejected Him as their King. So God gave them Saul. We know that after Saul came David...the point is, that the throne of David is a throne over Israel.
Jesus' throne is over Israel now, and over everyone and everything.
Jesus is on the throne now.

I'll post scriptures in my next post so as not to put so much information out at once.
During the earthly ministry of Christ, Israel was to believe that Jesus is Christ, the Son of God for eternal life. Israel would by faith, have eternal life by believing in the name of Jesus.
That goes for everyone. It came first for the Jews and then for the Gentiles. The Jews first because they were in the covenant of the promise when they were circumcised in the flesh. They entered the covenant.

Israel had to believe on the name of Jesus for eternal life, but to enter the kingdom on earth they had to be baptized. Israel had to obey the commandments to be physically saved to enter the kingdom.
All covenants must be obeyed. Paul was a MINISTER OF THAT ONE AND ONLY covenant you are talking about.

2 Corinthians 3:6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

you said.......Same one and only good news. Same one and only gospel that saves.

We are not preaching only the name of Jesus for salvation today.

We are not preaching the gospel of the kingdom today.

These are different gospels.

There is only one gospel. We can talk more about that. I hope that you stay willing.
