Legendary Artist Prince Found Dead at 57
Seth Abramovitch
The Hollywood Reporter
April 21, 2016

Prince, a dizzylingly prolific multi-instrumentalist and virtuosic performer, was found dead at his home and recording studio in Minnesota early on Thursday, his publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 57.

Deputies are on scene at Paisley Park in Chanhassen conducting a death investigation currently, authorities said. No further details were immediately available and the cause of death is not being released at this time.

The performer was born Prince Rogers Nelson June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, Minn.

He released his debut album, For You, in 1978, followed by Prince (1979), Dirty Mind (1980) and Controversy (1981). All of them traded in his trademark sound - deep synth funk grooves with provocatively sexual lyrics and heart-piercing ballads sung in pure falsetto.

He isn't a legend.

He wasn't a legend.

He was popular for a while.

It is a pity that he died at 57.

Many younger than he died today.

My best friend and I saw Purple Rain when we were in high school and then went out and bought a package of the huge hoop earrings and each wore one to school the next day! She bought me the album (not cd LOL) for my birthday that year!

Prince was an amazing artist.

Maybe he is not legendary to you. But the whole world is mourning his passing this morning and recalling memories of the songs, the movies, the concerts, and the interviews and personal interactions with him. He was a multi-talented entertainer whose work will live on Until The End Of Time (song by Prince). For those who grew up on his music for four decades, his passing is a huge loss.

NO, the whole world is not. Perhaps the news channels and news programs in the west are. Maybe some proportion of western people are. But I am not.

we should mourn the death of every unsaved person for their state is eternally tragic.
but i neither worshipped him in life nor will i give him such worth in death .

and though it will probably come across offensive ..i noticed Americans, in particular, have a disproportionate amount of devotion to entertainment people who have attained some measure of fame.
When in reality they have amassed wealth to be fought over by others when they have gone and this is the summit of their early achievement. all their life has amounted to leaving scraps for seagusll to squabble over ..
without JESUS it is futile ,it is vanity it is meaningless -there is nothing to be celebrated in their memory .

It allows newscasters to ignore the thousands being killed every day and also to ignore any good news that might be worth reporting. They can concentrate on the trivial and superficial thus helping to keep society focused on the trivial and superficial.

You know what is strange to me? On this forum we have acknowledged the fond memories of many celebrities who have passed on whether we were fans or not. I am surprised at the venom thrown at this particular one.

Legend or no

I enjoyed some of Prince's music. It is too bad he is not around to produce any more. Too bad for us. But everyone dies and the only true mourners are those that were close to him as a person.

RIP

i mostly did not comment but the last i think was david bowie ..and his association with anything antichrist was rather blatant .
its not venom.it is stating the plain truth of the matter

Not venom, at least not from me but I watched a news show early morning that was almost entirely devoted to this artist, what sets him apart from all the others that get maybe a mention? Seems like he was idolized to me.

He was famous, and that is all that counts now I think.

They do not like to spend money to investigate all the other things that happened today. It's cheaper to rehash the "news" about a famous person who died.
