Was this creature mentioned in Job and elsewhere in the Bible a real creature or mythological? Everything I’ve read and I admit I haven’t read much yet, said it was a mythological creature except Christian sites.
Does the LCMS have to believe in THAT?

I was never taught it was a mythical creature.

What was it, then?

Who knows? Could be an extinct animal.

One thing about the Old Testament that unless it's something like a Psalm meant to be sung, if it's listed as fact then we take it as fact. If we don't do that then we could easily start doubting other things that happened such as miracles from God.

I’m not sure a seven headed animal was real.

I can believe there was some dinosaur-like creature, some describe it being like a huge crocodile-ish dragon. But the seven headed creature? I don’t believe it.

Was it mythology or thought to be real?

The question is this: "Does the LCMS have to believe that." And the clear answer is: No. Nor are members or clergy of the LCMS.

I contacted my pastor and he said that it could have been real, but lots of people feel that it is meant to represent a person or an institution.
