Last time you rented a vehicle?

When was the last time you rented a vehicle? How much did it cost per day? Was there any extra fee that surprised you?

Last time I rented a car was last October. I can't remember the daily rate. There were no fees that surprised me.

My daughter lives in a big city and she said that there was some really big fee they tried to tack on, so she didn't end up renting and did a shared ride instead. That was still expensive.

I rent pretty frequently. Last time in May and then next week I will again. I have never experienced any fees other than airports cost more to rent from than off site due to airport charges. Also Avis will charge you for gas if you drive less than 75 miles, even if you bring it in full, so best to just not fill it up if you are not driving a lot. If I am renting more than a day I almost always pre-pay for a tank of gas as if it is more than a day trip I tend to be doing a lot of miles. I almost always rent with Avis or National.
