I seldom shed many tears when a huge retail store closes, because it's usually on the basis they failed to meet the needs of their customers.

Service Merchandise and Mongomery Ward were awesome places to shop when I was a kid and teenager.

For me, no.

But my parents shopped a LOT at Sears. For clothing, appliances, vacuums... I even remembering them buying furniture there once. They felt it went way down hill when they merged with K-Mart (one bought out the other; I don't know which bought which). By the time they closed around here, my parents had pretty much moved on.

I do most of my shopping online, but I do like Macy's (just can be over-priced). There's a salesman at our Macy's who is like a fashion consultant (!) and REALLY takes the time to be helpful. So rare these days.... service seems to be a lost art.
