I guess it's no stranger than having Trump run for President to learn that a rapper wants to run now. The article states "2020 vision" and then says he'll run in 2024.

Shouldn't he hold a public press conference to announce it? As popular as Twitter might be, it shouldn't be a platform for making official announcements because it's a private website.

Reagan actually went from actor and union president to GOVERNOR. He was the governor of California for 8 years, I THINK 1966 - 1974 (before my time). He was a very popular governor (back before California became a one-party state, before it became The People's Republic of California). He was all the talk for nomination as president in 1976 but lost out to Ford. He got the nod in 1980. But by then, he had not been an actor for a long time.

He's playing to the fan base and exploiting the times we're in now thinking a black candidate will win in 2024 when we come out the other side after Trump's final term is over. I think that is why his wife is doing so much now with community action and services, so as to appear to be the ideal FLOTUS.
The difference between a successful billionaire businessman and a mediocre rapper with public mental illness, is that Trump is stable and knows how to run a global corporation, the USA. Kanye West can't even honor his tour schedules or remain calm for a 24 hour period.

The press picks up on it and does the press coverage for him. He doesn't even have to go out on interviews. He Tweets and the press from this point on will be all over it per his pursuit of POTUS in 2024.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the CA governor stage. Funny to think it wasn't all that long ago that California was a red state. But still, having a one-time career as an entertainer isn't necessarily a block to the White House, even if it would be good to do something else in the meantime. Although Trump went from being businessman to president without a political career in the meantime.

It might be interesting to see which votes Kanye might steal. I'd hope all the Democrats out there would vote for him because we're so often told that the only reason not to vote for the black candidate is racism.
