23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
Hebrews 7:23-25 NIV

This is a part of a passage that refers to Jesus as a high priest greater than Melchizedek in that he offered himself up once and for all and doesn't need to do it again year after year. Hebrews 2:18 adds that because Jesus became like us, except without sin, he was tempted in all things and is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Do you think this intercession that Jesus does is a daily and ongoing thing or would you interpret this to have to do simply with salvation?
What does it mean to you that Jesus intercedes for us?
I find this an interesting example of the Trinity as Jesus is interceding to the Father for us. And the Holy Spirit also helps us to pray as we should Romans 8:26

Because of sin (Adam and the fall) man was separated from God, but Jesus is our intercessor and we are now reconciled to God because of Him. Here is a nice quote:

"We think we have problems in this world, but ultimately, we have a greater problem. The problem of our sin! Because of our sin we all are defenseless before God, the righteous Judge. But God the Father sent His Son Jesus to not only serve as our defense attorney (1 John 2:1-2), to stand next to us and intercede (Hebrews 7:25) for us, He actually stands in our place, taking the sentence of death upon Himself to the cross – the death sentence that we deserved – and we receive the pardon, the forgiveness of our sins. That’s GOOD NEWS! But it gets even better! God raised Jesus from the dead, and because He lives, we too will live…eternally and right now… with the assurance that Jesus will continue to intercede for us, who promised to never leave us or forsake us! He will be with us always to the very end of the age! PRAISE GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!!"
