Isn't life strange?

I was browsing some youtube video clips and happened across one containing the testimony of an elder who is one of Jehovah's witnesses to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. I knew the voice and the face. He was a man with worked with for a brief time in a consulting company in the late 1990s. He was not accused of any wrongdoing but he had apparently played a role examining and judging one case of reported child sexual abuse (reported some years after the event(s)). I never knew he was one of Jehovah's witnesses. He did strike me as an honest, decent, and compassionate man.

Life has some interesting and strange twists to it.

Joe was a good chap to work with. He didn't do any wicked things but his words were kind of "organisation oriented" rather than oriented to the person who was the victim of abuse. It is not hard to understand why that might happen when one considers that the organisation is absolutely and totally central in Jehovah's witnesses religion.

Brainwashed people don't often show signs right away that they're being mind-controlled. They can seem so normal at first.

Yeah, I'd say that life is pretty strange, but for entirely different reasons than the one you mentioned in your post.
