Is this how anti-catholicism works?

LOL Thought germs!

Seems to me that some folk get a germ in their heads and want to pass it on to everybody else even though they know it made them feel bad.

1. The RC Denomination disagrees with various denomination EXACTLY to the same extent on EXACTLY the same issues that those denominations disagree with it. There is "you're wrong" stuff just as much from Catholics as non-Catholics. On the same issues. To the same extend. I know - I've been on BOTH SIDES of this.

2. My degree is not in psychology, but perhaps Dr. Phil could weigh in on the persecution complex we see from some denominations and some people. It is a POWERFUL thing! It often creates much passion and helps develop unity. But it is a mental disease. I find it often comes out when that denomination or person cannot support claims or unique views.... so instead of doing that, in lieu of doing that, in place of doing that, we get the "How come everybody's always pic'n on we pur ___________" or "You hateful, ignorant, anti- ___________ jerk!" As if that is an adequate apologetic for a unique claim or doctrine of that individual denomination or person.... Years ago, I spent about a year studying several American "cults" and found this persecution complex, this "everybody's pic'n on pur us" thing to be a powerful common denominator among them... especially used in lieu of apologetics, and often dished out liberally toward others.

3. At CH and several other sites, I've given my view of the individual RC Denomination. NO ONE (including More Coffee)... NO Catholic..... not even one Catholic..... at any of the sites..... has been willing to say the same positive things about me and about my denomination (not even ONE of the positive things, much less all of them). Not even one (including More Coffee). This powerful, powerful reality confirms to ME that often this "You anti!" stuff is.... well..... hypocritical.

Really, Josiah?

Yes. Denominations sometimes disagree with other denominations. IMO, this is not an indication of hate or pic'n on it (and the members of it) - it's disagreement. And such disagreement tends to be entirely mutual - in content and in degree. For example, my denomination and More Coffee's disagree with each other on EXACTLY the IDENTICAL same issues, to EXACTLY the same degree. Doesn't make either "anti" or hateful or discriminatory - it just means they disagree. Equally. Identically. THAT was my point in #1 of my post.

Here are the other two points of my response:

2. My degree is not in psychology, but perhaps Dr. Phil could weigh in on the persecution complex we see from some denominations and some people. It is a POWERFUL thing! It often creates much passion and helps develop unity. But it is a mental disease. Now... to add..... I'm not in favor of persecution or hate or "anti" - whether it is aimed at Catholics or Lutherans or Mormons or Evangelicals or Muslims or Agnostics. I've in favor of respectful discussion. This does NOT mean an embrace of uber-relativism or an abandonment of the points I believe are true - but it does mean an expression of unconditional love and respect. We ALL can find stuff that violates this... but probably the best thing to do is don't. And I think that at times, there's a lot of hypocracy (to use too strong a word) about this..... those in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks, what goes around comes around.... Jesus had that "log/speck" point that often applies. I think all of us (that includes me) need to be sensitive to that. Again, see the 3 points I shared above.

My response was in regard to the relative humorless-ness of your response to the thread. Even your fellow Lutheran saw it in jest. We can insert 'anti-(anything)' if you'd care to. It's still in jest.

I expressed a dislike for "anti-other" "germs" And noticed the Catholic poster desired this be discussed in the sole context of "anti-Catholicism." I viewed the video.... and actually found it pretty good (although MY thought was more the 2016 national election of the USA; although I feel this video was just a bit too relativistic, lol) ... but again, we were told to evaluate this in terms of the Anti-Catholicism. Sorry if I misunderstood that request of the OP.

:read: Yes. Having breathed in Protestant germs my entire life, and am well aware of their Catholic counterparts, I can happily say my immune system is tough, and my beliefs, while not impenetrable, are well equipped to handle either.
