I'm watching season three of the Chosen.

I'm a little on the fence about the series because they take so many "artistic licenses" in creating a backstory for the apostles and other characters in the Gospels and invent some characters not mentioned in the New Testament. However, There have been some touching moments.

The way they portrayed the woman with an issue of blood who touched Jesus garment made me tear up a little. They really did a good job of showing how she would always be "unclean" and an outcast to Jewish society. Her being healed by Jesus was more than physical healing. It allowed her to rejoin society.

I saw a couple of the first series. It didn't really work for me, I got the impression they were trying to create a back story based on speculation, to the point that the created back story became dominant.

I wouldn't tell others not to watch it, I just didn't care to see any more of them.

I've watched some scenes on YouTube, but not entire episodes. The scenes were touching, but somehow I did not feel captivated enough to check out the entire series. Also, I agree with you about the overblown backstory. It might make for a good cinematic work, but I don't know, it doesn't quite seem like it's Biblically accurate.

The true Christian should always view such programming with 'tongue-in-cheek', because regardless of intentions, someone is giving their 'view' of what The Bible teaches, whether it be about morals or Bible history. And if one does not know... what The Bible does actually teach, then such media programming can be an outlet for propaganda against God's Word, and that even if the program writer is a Christian, yet might be deceived.

Thus it is always best for those in Christ to discipline theirselves in His Word first, and then you will know if the media program stays with God's Truth, or not. And even Mel Gibson's Passion of Christ movie, (which I consider was an honest attempt to tell the story about Lord Jesus), it still had some Biblical mistakes in it.
