What example of 'Internet etiquette' do you feel deserves more awareness?

I would like for people to remember that there are people on the other end of that post, people with real feelings. Except on Twitter and Facebook where bots are overflowing.

I agree, believe it or not.

But, it's like a Christian man in a war. He doesn't want to kill. But he has been thrown into this war. If you don't kill, then you die and help the cause of the enemy. Not to mention the deaths of other fellow patriots because you didn't kill.

The people you kill have family and feelings also. Do you allow them to kill you because of that?

In other words, the cause for which we fight, outweighs our feelings, outweighs our consideration for feelings of others, who become the enemy. Just as in a physical war.

Many people have their own pet peeves.

As far as general etiquette is concerned I think the notion THAT WE SHOULD AVOID SHOUTING is probably worth a mention, as well as addressing what someone is actually saying rather than endlessly turning arguments into strawmen, assuming because someone voted for A over B it must follow they agree with every single thing A has ever said or done, and the like.

Don't randomly start insulting someone just because you are wrong/ran out of arguments. I'm here for a civil conversation and you should be too.

But but...he's in a war! It's the net, so it's mostly a war of ideas - our battlefield! The protected worldview some people live in must be protected at all costs! Do you remember the War that happened at a certain section of the other place? Where sniper fire was rife, fat men declared themselves King of the area and Protector of The Realm, while secretly betraying the trust of internet maidens? I do!

For you it's just 'ideas'. Not for the Christian. For the Christian it is about 'truth' as revealed in the Bible.

And this is a Christian forum where such debates occur. And the warfare becomes very real. (Eph. 6:12-17) "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of the world....Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God...and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Truths you've already demonstrated you don't believe in. The 3 days 3 nights debate clearly indicate this.

But I know, Lees, quoter of Ephesians. Saul/Paul is your master. The first murderer of the true believers. Your master. I bet you don't even know what his name means. His real name. That information is too deep for a fundie.

I think a large part of the problem there is when people have been taught what to think rather than how to think.

If I think what I've always been taught to think by people who I trust and who are reasonable then what I think is reasonable, as any reasonable person would think it. Since I'm a reasonable person anything I think is reasonable because if it wasn't I'd think something else, what with me being reasonable and rational and all that good stuff.

Then you come along thinking something else. Clearly you aren't a reasonable person or you'd think the same as I think. You clearly aren't a rational person either, or you'd think what I think (since I'm both reasonable and rational). Therefore you must be wrong and not only are you wrong you must be irrational to not see how very wrong you are.

(Of course, if you've also been taught what to think rather than how to think, from your position the same applies in reverse).

In the absence of an ability to think and consider whether your viewpoint might have some merit, whether - horror - my viewpoint might be wrong, whether we might be in a situation where we could both have valid viewpoints, about all there is left to do is either go away (and arguably be seen to be admitting defeat) or double down and throw insults at the person who is obviously so wrong and so irrational they can't even see it.
