should you speed up, maintain speed, slow down, or pull over and stop?

If his lights are not on, maintain your speed and change lanes if possible. If he continues to tailgate and then turns on his lights, then pull over but call 911 and tell them your afraid of this officer. Keep your doors locked and windows up and show him you have called 911 and you want another officer on the scene also.

There are bad policeman out there. Get as much information about the officer and the police vehicle as you can see.

If he's on my tail, he's getting my license plate to run it and looking for something such as a warrant out for my arrest. I've had it happen before and it's a scary situation even though I've never even gotten a ticket before in my life. People try to say whites aren't afraid of the police, but some of us are because even though there are some amazing cops out there, there are also some lowlifes.

If someone is tailgating me I slow down, I don't really care who they are. If the police want to run my license plate they are welcome to do so - it's not like I can stop them from reading the plate (that's kinda the point of having a plate in the first place). If they want to get somewhere they can overtake me, if they plan to pull me over they can light me up and make it clear.

In this city, the only time they tailgate is when they turn the lights on to stop you. Otherwise, they are just as bad at driving as everyone else around here, speeding, changing lanes, no turn signals. In short, if they are tailgating with those lights on, pull over,

Slam on your breaks, they'll hit you in the rear (and that's ALWAYS the fault of the car that hit you from behind) and sue the PD for billions for causing you psychological distress.

just kidding

I would pull over or out of the way and assume he or she had somewhere to go and they were in a hurry
