Usually when the old one stops working. It's far from rare for me to keep a phone for 4-5 years.

My current one worked for around 1 year exactly and got damaged in the April this year. I wanted it to stretch upto new year eve. But yeah no chance and had to buy new phone recently. I didn't spend much but hoping that new phone I can get later in 2021 and hopefully it's apple this time.

My current phone is about a year or two old but I have the same phone number for it. It is common for me to go several years with the same phone.

iPhones get boring after some time. The customization options are limited, unless you jailbreak the device, which is something I'm not willing to do.

I just realised my current phone is 21 months old. When I bought it the carrier very kindly allowed me to take 24 months interest free credit to pay for it, so I figured I'd use their capital instead of mine. They add 1/24 of the cost of the phone to my bill every month for two years, then that part of the bill goes away. I have three payments left.

The previous phone was the only one I replaced when it was still working perfectly, because I wanted to move to a new carrier and they didn't support my old phone. I think it was four phones ago I had one I grew to hate. One day I literally threw it against the wall in frustration with it and was quite disappointed when I picked it up and found it still worked. Although I said earlier I tend to replace phones when they stop working, if I get annoyed enough with a phone to do something like that with it the chances are it's getting replaced before too long.

Usually when the old one stops working or becomes out-dated. Sometimes I'll purchase a new phone instead of repairing a broken screen, for example. It works out better value for money this way.

Like many others, when the phone is not working. My previous phone was buggy from the beginning and was replaced twice, but still had some issues. After about 20 months, I replaced it last month. It is nice that Apple is now giving trade in credit. We used the credit for mine to purchase a new one for my husband which was about 6 or so years old. Updated his because Apple is no longer going to be supporting that one in the next year.
