My phone has been acting strange lately, and yesterday I tried to return my husband's call by pressing that specific icon on my phone to do so...and it called his sister instead! She wasn't even on the list of calls to return!!! So odd. I apologized to her and she understood because her phone has a mind of its own as well.

I realized that my phone is now 5 1/2 years old and it's time for a new one.

How often do you get a new phone? What are some things you are looking for in a new phone? I just want one that doesn't overheat, takes decent pictures, doesn't drop calls, has a good connection for data/wifi, isn't static sounding, and holds a charge for a long time.

It's hard for me to answer this question because I had at least one phone that just stopped working properly and it was actually an expensive phone given to me one Christmas. The audio on it started to go wrong and other things so I took it to get repaired. It wasn't repaired but they said it was and they put a new battery in it. I got demon possessed and one night I tore the phone in two with my bare hands. (Just kidding with the possession thing, I think!). I actually tore the phone into two because I was so angry. All the computers and phones I have had and my guitar equipment have all malfunctioned in lots of different ways. It works one day and the next it doesn't etc. I've had files on my computer corrupted and many have gone missing or just vanished. Recently, I manually deleted a kindle book and I saw it gone. The next time I opened up Kindle it was right back there.

On average I would guess I have a phone maybe once every 4 years. My first phone was not a smart phone, just a small Nokia which I got around 2008. It lasted a long time. I didn't want to pander to trends and get a mobile phone so I left it late. I think I've had about 3 other ones since then which were smart phones including the present one. Something I found frustrating was that the manufacturers expect you to know exactly how to use these devices so they don't give detailed instructions like you would usually get with an electronic piece of equipment.

Looks like about 4-5 years. In technology terms, I am now 2 generations of the phone behind. Won't be upgrading anytime soon.

If my phone weren't acting up, I'd stick with it too! I have it set up the way I like and hate having redo things and then find that some things I can no longer do. Or ringtones are different.

The fastest I ever changed my phone was six month. I didn't want to change but wanted to switch to a new carrier and they didn't support my old phone, so I retired it and got a new one. The monthly savings were such that the new phone was paid for with savings within six months, otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

Usually I keep a phone until it annoys me so much I'm ready to throw it at something. It's not entirely unknown for me to get sufficiently frustrated with my phone that I do throw it at something, which is my cue to buy a new phone. If that's going to happen it's usually when it's about 5 years old.

As long as it can get through the day based on my normal usage I"m OK with it. When it runs so slowly I don't know whether it's slow to respond or hasn't registered a touch at all, that's when I get annoyed with it.

When I get a new phone ,all the information transfers. No setting up a new phone. Not sure if all types make it so you can do that.

A lot of phones are incredibly expensive these days. Some think nothing of spending over £1000 which might last around 5 years. I always go for something in the neighbourhood of £350 and up to date. The technology is so good now there is no need to buy anything that costs more than that.

Maybe you have viruses. Try an antivirus like Malwarebytes or Sophos.

No, guitar 8 track recording units and guitar amplifiers don't need anti virus software as they aren't connected to the internet.
