If you're having winterlike conditions this month, how much snow have you gotten so far?

We've only seen flakes.

We were braced for bitter cold, blizzards, ice storms, you name it. What we got was barely an inch of snow, maybe slightly less. There were still a clutch of accidents - it seems every year there's a bunch of knuckleheads who think that "speed limit 60" signs trump the basic laws of physics and that the fact their car has four wheel drive means they can drive at summer speeds in winter conditions.

It doesn't take a lot of snow and ice to make the roads slippery, and it doesn't take a lot of mental gymnastics to figure that when the roads are slippery you need to drive more slowly.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Sometimes careful drivers are overtaken by weather situations beyond their control. I use Michelin tires and they cut my loss of control driving 30 miles to work every day, probably in half. So many variables come into play.

Not any snow here in southwest Virginia or Northeast Tennessee, where I used to live.

It snowed here in 1947. I've seen the pictures. Didn't last the day, however.

Up here in the high mountains of Southwest Virginia, when it does snow, it comes down hard. It's very harsh here, given it is the southern USA. However, if you go into parts of the Tennessee Valley, it's not that harsh.
