In the earliest years of my life my grandparents saw us often, but then we moved halfway across the country and we saw them only maybe once a year.

My paternal grandmother came to live with us hen I was about 10 years old. Until then, she live a few blocks away. She was very involved when my mother had to have a benign brain tumor removed. I enjoyed spending mite with her. My grandfather had passed when I was 7 years old. I still miss her even though she has been gone over 50 years.

y maternal grandparents were less involved as the live a day's drive away until I was about 12. They were then a few block away and helpful to our family but were not the cozy type.

Very little. Two of them died when I was very young and I was never close to the two that survived. When the third grandparent died I was well into my 30s and I sat through the funeral wondering if I was in the wrong place - I didn't even recognise the person they were describing.

That'a a very good question @Lamb. I have never met my grandparents but I try to be there for my grandkids as much as I can and get involved in what they are up to....

My dad's parents were very involved in our lives until they passed, and my mom's parents were distant. It was hard not having her parents care for us.
