What is your experience like for grocery shopping these days?

Today I went and the parking lot wasn't crowded but because of the arrows and all that it seemed very crowded and was slow moving. What used to take an hour and a half including travel time now has turned into 2 hours.

There are shelves that are still empty of foods and supplies but today there was a small stock of toilet paper, paper towels and kleenex.

There was plenty of meat but it was very expensive. I'm finding most items have increased in price and what used to cost about $3.50 is now in the $5 range.

It's a little depressing seeing the empty shelves, but that is just temporary. I don't like it when people crowd me or get too close and aren't wearing masks. I had an experience with an employee at the grocery store yesterday who got too close to me and wasn't wearing a mask and I let the manager know I wasn't happy about it. They have signs on the floor showing what 6 feet is and the person works there and still didn't follow it

Did you notice if there were more men or women not wearing masks and which ones went down the wrong way in the aisles or crowded you? In my experience it was the men who did those things except for one or two women who got confused. Well, one worker went down the wrong way but maybe she was going to work in that aisle anyway?

If someone gets too close I figure a good way to make the point is to cough.

My all time favourite grocery shopping experience has nothing to do with the present situation. It happened about 7 or 8 years ago. The guy ahead of me obviously knew the cashier. He said that he had just had a hernia operation and was not allowed to lift anything heavier than a bottle of wine for six weeks. She commented that it would be a terrible hardship. He said "Problem is it means that I have to pee sitting down!" Everybody within earshot just broke up!

Just did some grocery shopping today. Mostly OK, bar the silliness of a mask requirement when a good number of people wearing masks wear things so loose they are even less useful than standard. One-way markings on aisles, ignored by probably 30-40% of customers. And item limits posted on the shelves, which seems like a good reason for multiple family members to take their own cart and defeat the limits.

Having found the last pack of toilet roll we bought was cheap 1-ply stuff we took the chance to buy a pack of a nicer 2-ply alternative. The limit was one per customer. We could have bought one each but one pack will last us long enough.

I always wear a mask, so I don't think coughing into the mask would prove anything

Maybe not, but it's not as if a lot of masks accomplish all that much and it seems impossible to underestimate the level of paranoia among a lot of people.
