Government using Eminent Domain

What are your thoughts on governments that use Eminent Domain to seize property for use such as roads, sewers, housing, etc...?

A Constitutional function of government, and an essential one to create a livable infrastructure.

I do take issue with taking private property from one person and then giving it to another for the sole purpose of private development though. Unfortunately the USSC has approved of this so it is also now considered a Constitutional taking as well.
