One thing that stands out about Gods 10 Commandments is that they are not inspired but written with Gods own finger, the same cannot be said for the 613 Mitzvot. Gods 10 Commandments are everlasting they do not change, but even the Jews admit that the law of Moses is arbitrary depending on the individual Rabbi or teacher interpreting it. Gods 10 Commandments exist as long as He does, but the 613 Mitzvot even the Jews say no longer apply as even they admit that basically it and its sacrifices and services cannot be observed today primarily because the Temple does not exist. The criminal procedures also cannot be observed today because the theocratic state of Israel does not exist.

God's Law has always been known as the 10 Commandments, which was written upon two tables of stone with the finger of God. It was placed inside the Ark of the Covenant, representing God's throne in heaven, and protected within the innermost veil of the Tabernacle. No man except the High Priest was permitted to enter this sacred place on earth, but once a year.

Now the law of Moses was contained in the book that he had written, and it was placed in the side of the Ark.

Deuteronomy 31:24-26
24. And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,
25. That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying,
26. Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

God's Law continues unchanged, while Moses law was subject to change.
Hebrews 7:12. For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

God's Law is perfect, while Moses law wasn't perfect, nor did it make anyone perfect
Hebrews 10:1. For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

God's Law brought true joy and happiness, while Moses law brought a curse upon those who didn't continue in all it said.
Galatians 3:10. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Galatians 5:2, 3
2. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
Galatians 5:4. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

God's Law is immutable, while Moses law was nailed to the cross, and therefore abolished.
Ephesians 2:15. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Colossians 2:14. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross;
Matthew 27:50, 51
50. Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom;

The 10 Commandments show us the fundamentals of Gods love and loving your fellow man. The 10 Commandments are the basis for many of society's laws which allow us to exist in good order and reap the benefits of living peacefully with others.

There is a great blessing to be found following Gods 10 Commandments versus the burden of the list of the 613 Mitzvot or commandments of Moses which any rabbi can change or amend.

All of scripture, every last single word, is an entirely human thought. By the way which of the three versions of the ten commandments that are found in the Bible do you follow? I'll bet that the one you follow is not the only version that actually self identifies as "the ten commandments".

The supposed list in Exodus 34 of the "real" ten commandments (which has been thrown at me before), is easily dismantled by the rest of Scripture - which is given, not from man's thought, but the very mind of God.
And as hobie correctly pointed out above... there indeed is a difference between the Ten - the Eternal Moral Law of God, which Jesus taught - and the rest of the temporary covenantal regulations & ordinances which Jews have been freed from, and Gentiles were never under.

Is there a church today that demands the 613 Mitzvot be adhered to?

You shall not murder is #6 for most protestants, the Orthodox Church, and the Jews. I only know of Lutherans and Catholics who number "you shall not murder" as #5.

1. The Seventh Day Adventists are to be positively acknowledged, because they clearly differentiate themselves from most other church groups. Most groups pay lip service to the 10 Commandments’ applying to Christians, but deliberately flout the original, God-given Sabbath Day. Seventh Day Adventists regard all 10 commandments seriously, without exception.

2. However, when we take even a superficial look at what Holy Scripture says about those 10 Commandments, something interesting emerges.

===================================================================================

Exodus 20:12: Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Deuteronomy 5:16: Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

===================================================================================

Maybe the Christian churches should not be appropriating those commandments to themselves, in any way, after all.

The commandments as given, do seem to be applying to Israel as a nation, don’t they?

===================================================================================

Because I might have missed it, I’m open to being shown any properly applied Scriptures that clearly show that the Ten Commandments were not an integral part of the overall Law (termed the “Law of Moses”).
