I find it hard to imagine anyone lived through the 80s without owning at least some cassettes or CDs.

I remember having a pager for a short time - it was related to the job I had. I didn't stay long because I got a better job, so the pager went away. I also remember seeing people at conferences with a huge array of things clipped to their belts, who would often get up and leave when one of their many devices started beeping. The way they acted you'd think it was a sign of great importance but I always regarded it as a sign there were 1000 different people who could summon them without notice, so it was actually a sign of being low on the pecking order.

Even now the fax hasn't quite died out. My all-in one printer/scanner/copier also offers faxing, although it's never actually used.

Were PDAs worthy of the name around in the 80s? I remember them being popular in the 90s and early 2000s, just trying to remember when things like the Apple Newton came out. I remember the 80s being the season of the fil-o-fax, proudly wielded by people who were less important than they liked to think.
