Frog dissection day in middle/high school?

What do you remember about frog dissection day in middle/high school? Did you participate?

I don't remember dissecting a frog. I do remember a rat dissection. I vaguely recall dissecting some kind of eye as well, maybe a sheep's eye?

Heartbreaking. Though we knew it was coming it was still sad.

Then, our teacher decided to up the disection subjects, with no forewarning unlike with the frogs, to shaved dead.....cats!
Their skin was yellowish due to the Formaldehyde. (Now banned in labs due to it being deemed carcinogenic. I wonder if manufactured homes and house trailer manufacturers still use it?)

One of my classmates had a nervous breakdown right there in class. Backing into a corner and unconsolable.

We never saw our science teacher, a senior age woman, again.
Not was disection on the schedule for the rest of the year.

All these years later and I can still see those cats in those large sealed plastic bags.

I did not dissect anything formerly living in school or elsewhere. I am not disappointed.

What do you remember about frog dissection day in middle/high school? Did you participate?

I do remember it. Yes, I participated. I didn't think it was any big deal. Just part of science and biology.

Of course, as I was growing up, and we had a hard rain, frogs would be out on the road gettin away from the high water. Me and all the other kids would get on our bikes, and try and run over as many as we could.

They made a tremendous pop, if you hit em just right, when their guts blew out their mouth. And we were looking for the loudest pop.

Point being: frog discection didn't bother me.
