Some marriages resemble a cold war rather than an alliance. However, it would
be much easier to soldier thru those kinds of couplings if each spouse would
consider the other an enemy for whom Jesus said:

• Matt 5:44-47 . . But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!
If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even
pagans do that.

The Greek word translated "love" in that passage is impersonal. In other words; it's
a kind of love that doesn't require that we like a hostile spouse or feel affection or
fondness for them. It's a benevolent kind of love that's nice to everyone, even folks
that are impossible to like. For example:

• Matt 5:45 . . For He gives His sunlight to both the evil and the good, and He sends
rain on the just and on the unjust too.

The liberal Leftists aren't going to like this...

There is a huge difference between Jesus' teaching to offer the other cheek if you are slapped on the face, and defending yourself, or your loved ones, the widow, your country, etc. (Matthew 5:39).

Luke 22:35-36
35 And He said unto them, "When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing?" And they said, "Nothing."

36 Then said He unto them, "But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one."

Did you catch that? Lord Jesus told His disciples in final that He sent on the open road, to go buy a sword, for those who didn't have one!

His turn the other cheek Message was about if you preach The Gospel, and someone comes up and slaps you on the face for it, then offer them your other cheek also. In other words, that is NOT a life-or-death situation like a murderer coming at you with a knife or other weapon.

If a thief or murderer is trying to harm you or one of your loved ones, break into your home, or even in public, etc., Jesus' command to buy a sword means those in Christ have the GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO DEFEND THEIR SELVES, THEIR FAMILY, AND THEIR COUNTRY IF NEEDS BE.

The enemies against Christ Jesus are of course against that above truth, because they want to destroy God's people. Even orthodox Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Ownership understand this basic God-given right.
