For those who eat meat

Would you rather the animal be slaughtered in a way that minimizes it's suffering, or some other way (including ways that prolong it's suffering), and does this matter to you?

Unless there's some improvement in the animal's life it makes little difference whether its death is more or less humane. It makes no sense to argue that, say, a chicken must be killed in a particularly humane manner when it spent its entire life in a box so small it couldn't move.

My experience is that if you can get meat from a company that's about animal welfare throughout its life that meat tastes better. The trouble is it can cost very significantly more than regular meat. I used to live near a butcher that was part of just such a chain but their chickens were sometimes three times the price of a comparably sized chicken from a regular store. It tasted better, but not three times better.

I hardly eat it, but I buy it for the kids. I don't buy halal meat. Normally they get sedated. A few years ago a supermarket only sold halal meat without saying so, cause it was easier and for money. That was really nasty.
