It is sobering in that the majority of Americans may start to realize how dependent we are on others to survive.
Case in point, the resolve of those truckers in the article.
Take the Amish community. All this chaos transpires around the secular modern community and the Amish are oblivious. And yet they survive because they are self sustaining.

The reality. Police that are ordered to stand down, or to abandon a precinct to Racist Terrorists, as happened in Seattle Washington when ANTIFA/BLM invaded and occupied a 6 to 10 block terror-tory. It happens because as members of the Executive Branch of Government, the only people who can order such actions are those in charge of the police; the Mayor.
And where this happens is without exception in Blue states. Democratic states and under the color of authority of Democratic Mayors and Governors.

The other observation that need be made in the midst of such chaos is, we get to see what happens when Democrats are faced with Terrorist actions. They fold! They surrender. And the people left to be hostage to those Racist Terrorists, suffer.
Though in Seattle the businesses are suing due to being betrayed and let to be left as hostages to ANTIFA/ BLM.
But what is that but those Washington State citizens , when they win the suit, being repaid what was originally their own tax monies.

There was an interesting article I read a while ago about the growing sense that another civil war is looming and how the Democrats will lose it, and lose badly.

it considered two scenarios, one with the Democrats as the aggressors and one with the Republicans as the aggressors. The term "declare war" doesn't necessarily require a formal declaration of war, merely enough aggression to count as a war.

If the Democrats are the aggressors and declare war on Republican areas their chances of success are slim. On the face of it there's no way a ragtag bunch of hunters in Wisconsin can hold their ground against a tank battalion but, as many insurrections around the world have shown, you don't need military supremacy. You just need determination and good tactics. In this case you don't attack the tanks, you hit the supply chain. The tanks need fuel, the troops need food, so you hit the supply trucks and take them out. When the tank commander pokes his head out of the tank because he needs to take a leak, a hunter with a decent rifle and a good aim can take him out from 400 yards away. Slowly but surely you wear down the resolve to fight. Psychological operations are far more effective in a field like this than physical operations.

If the Republicans are the aggressors it's likely to be over even faster. Democrats are less likely to own guns and more likely to live in big cities. On that basis it's easy to just cut supplies to the cities and force them out that way. If you've got no air conditioning in the summer or no heat in the winter, no food in the grocery stores and you're entering your third week with no power, how long are you going to hold out? Chances are the utility workers aren't in any rush to get out to restore the power because the besieging forces are waiting for them with long range rifles. Sure, you could climb that pole to reconnect the power but you might as well literally paint a target on your back given how exposed you'll be.

There's actually quite a lot to like about the Amish lifestyle. It's primitive but, as you say, it's self sustaining and many of the costs we incur to fund our lifestyle go away if you follow theirs.

Great post. Wise insight into battle strategy as well.
This is why, as I've heard of that article you mentioned, it is imperative we strive to keep a Republican as Commander in Chief, and God willing this time no Dept. of Elections fraudsters working in November, obtain a majority of Republicans in both Houses. (House & Senate).
We're seeing a Democratic coup now from the launching pad of our Capitol Hill, as well as their allies in the yellow journalism front that is Democratic bias MSM.
One thing that a lot of people don't count on. The domestic military and police are people who took an oath to protect and serve. The police learned some few years ago through what has become a shame in itself, SCOTUS, that they do not have an obligation to protect and serve.
That being said, those in service in both arenas, military and police, have families in the civilian frame. It's one thing to say, what if Martial Law is declared after the very first efforts of a civil war, from either side, Left or Right wing, breaks out?
The next question becomes, will Sergeant Citizen really be willing to arrest her family and put them into a military base lockup?

How far would ML go in America? A natural counter I'd think if anything like a civil war (talk about your oxymoron) did break out again.

It's interesting to see how people ask how a few guys with AR-15s can stand against an air assault, when it's obvious to everyone that they can't. But in a totally one-sided battle any victory, however small, is the perfect propaganda tool. I remember some years ago when a country (I think Iran) shot down a US stealth craft. Whether it was shot down or crashed was the subject of much variation in news reports but, whatever really happened, that nation ended up with a prized military asset. I remember seeing pictures of the wreckage with a hand drawn sign that said something like "Sorry, we didn't know we couldn't see it".

If only it were as simple as keeping Republicans in power. It was a Republican in power when the abomination known as the PATRIOT act was passed, and if I recall it was Republicans who proposed legally requiring backdoors to be implemented in encryption algorithms.

How far would it go? Hard to say, there are far more people than there are police so the question would be what level of compliance could be expected and at what point local communities would push back.

Perhaps people would be happy being part of a society that would make the Stasi proud. Perhaps they would resist. The social dynamics of an occupying force (as anyone enforcing martial law would effectively become) are fascinating in themselves, as levels of consent and force from both sides shift in response to specific trigger events. Unless the population was almost totally disarmed it's hard to see it working, and the chances are that a nationwide gun confiscation system would leave a lot of unregistered guns (currently in the hands of the law-abiding) behind, that they figured they'd keep hold of even if only to provide enough firepower to grant them the chance to get away from trouble. Throw in the firearms held by criminals and the near-certainty of the use of improvised devices and the chances are martial law would be successful fade.
