OK, some things I've experienced, both before and since coming to Christ.
I now believe at least some of these things are valid.

To begin with, a couple of months BEFORE asking God to reveal to me wether or not both He and this gospel of Jesus was real, I had a series of dreams.

They were all of a theme, all involving clear, flowing water. I remembered them in their entirety (unusual for me) and in vivid detail, and they had an impact on me that I couldn't put my finger on, an ineffable quality that seemed to imply they were about something of great import.

One example - I was sitting on the bed of a stream, the bed of which was lined with smooth, colorful stones. Air-clear water was flowing around me, and there were little silvery fish swimming in place in the gentle current.

After what I now believe to be my point of salvation, I had what I can only describe as a 'vision' of a sort.

I was in my kitchen, and as I glanced into the living room everything in my field of vision seemed to go black, as if I was staring into a depthless void. I then became aware of an infinitesimally fine filament, like a spider thread, emerging out of the darkness, and I received the impression that if I wrapped my hand around that thread and held tightly, despite its seeming delicateness, it would pull me all the way through that thoroughly intimidating blacknesss successfully.

Another dream - I was standing on a beach looking out to the horizon. There was a blinding flash, and an immense mushroom cloud began rising from somewhere far out to sea. I was overcome by debilitating dread as whatever nuclear disaster this was came rushing towards me, only to watch in amazement as it began falling apart the closer it got, finally dissipating completely as it arrived where I was standing.
The impression was that I was somehow spared annihilation from a seeming inescapable threat.

And finally a dream where I became aware of someone dressed in a suit of a soft gray color standing a few feet away from me, an impression he was someone of gentle, patient kindness. Then he spoke very clearly, and said, " Thomas, you HAVE your shield, which is full of good things to eat."

That has been the only time I've ever heard anyone speak in a dream.

Make of it what you will, but after 30 years, I'm more convinced than ever that there is validity here, though why things like this would come to a dip-wad like me, I do not know.

Anyone else have any experiences like this?

You're not alone. I've had multiple dreams and visions and was talking to some contractors doing work on my house, and they have had them too. I understand probably more than half and still try to understand the others. Look at Joel 2:28-32. If you don't mind, I'll try to interpret yours just like I've had to try to interpret mine for about four years now.

The living water of Jesus is peaceful and full of life and you have been welcomed into the Kingdom of God.

The Kitchen is your place of eating and our dreams are about the bread of life-Jesus. The world does not want Jesus but you have found a thread to him. Hang on to it and don't let go because it is your ticket to eternal life.

Many of my dreams are about battles, war, and being ready for conflict. Most relate to me being attacked by religious leaders and those who reject the Lord because my investigations prove the story of Jesus to be from eyewitnesses and the Church corrupted by false teachers. The Church is full of selfish people who are in it for personal gain rather than working solely for Jesus.

The Lord has chosen you and you have been given the bread of life and will be protected. Keep listening to what the Holy Spirit is telling you and follow the Lord. Know that Jesus is in charge and you will be provided everything you need to do what God wants you to do.

That's funny. You think your a dip-wad for the longest time I've asked the Lord why a dip-wad like me--of course using other language. The answer I get is "why not?"

All my life I never dreamed but then the Lord got ahold of me and literally scared the hell out of me. I decided to go to work for the Lord and address my doubts and once I did, the visions started and I still get messages. Thanks for your post Fuddy. You're not alone.

Thanks for the response, JTF. I must admit that I still harbor doubts about what elicited all those experiences. I guess it completely just blows me away that the God of all the universe(s) would actually communicate with me at all. I need to be very careful that it's indeed from Him, and not me.

I've been a pretty crummy person most of my life, and have had a very difficult time with my faith... maybe coming to Christ at 41 y.o. contributed to that, as well as my tendency toward cynicism and an ingrained need to validate everything with incontrovertible (intellectual) proof.

It's a journey into unknown territory, and I'm learning that this amazing thing called Faith is mandatory in advancing in it.

I’m blown away too because it is a very humbling experience. if your visions prove to you that Jesus came as the sacrifice for those who believe in Jesus and that God is with us every step of our way, then your visions are from God. Mine started like yours, when I was searching for answers.

I could claim I’ve been crummier than you and we could compare notes. my visions started when I studied my life and realized just ho2 crummy I was. Document and search for meaning in your visions. Study the word of God like there is no tomorrow, and pray for guidance and I truly believe you will get answers. God has a plan for you!

I used to have faith, but now I don’t need it because I have evidence that God is with me. I no longer have the doubts in Jesus that plagued me for 62 years. I‘m not special, I’m blessed and so is anyone else who wants to be with God.
Blessings Fuddy, and please keep me posted.
