It has seemed for a long time that it's not so much a song contest as a political popularity contest. I haven't watched it in years, mostly for that reason.

Cool, but you can watch it anytime you want on YouTube. The entire show is on their channel, as are the individual entries. If you have an hour to spare, maybe try browsing through some of the music videos.
