Greeting
I live to love
My question is, what are exactly the fiery darts in Ephesians 6: 16, what are they? And what does, and in Ephesians 2: 2. What does it mean, Satan is the prince of the air?
something unusual came to my mind about this!
What may they be in the
21st Century?

prince of the air Ephesians 2: 2
While I prefer discussions based on verses IN CONTEXT, here you go with your word study on phrases plucked from context:

Ephesians 2:1-3 [NKJV]
1 And you [He made alive], who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

Satan is not the “prince of the air”. As quoted above, Satan is technically called “the prince of the power of the air”. This unique title for Satan speaks of his authority (prince) and his realm (the air).

“the power of the air” [NKJV]:
  • “the kingdom of the air” [NIV]
  • “in the unseen world” [NLT]
  • another way of indicating the “heavenly realms” of Ephesians 6:12
  • satan’s environment
  • “The domain of the air, in fact, is another way of indicating the heavenly realm, which, according to Ephesians 6:12, is the abode of those principalities and powers, world-rulers of this darkness and spiritual forces of wickedness against which the people of Christ wage war.” (Bruce)
“the prince of”
  • “the ruler of” [NIV]
  • “the commander of” [NLT]
  • not the ULTIMATE a ruler, but a prince
  • “Evil men set him up for their sovereign, and are wholly at his beck and obedience.” (Trapp)

fiery darts in Ephesians 6: 16

Ephesians 6:14-16 [NKJV]
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

“taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”
  • FAITH is a shield that protects us from the efforts of demonic foes to weaken us through fear and unbelief.
  • TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNESS a and the GOSPEL we are to have at all times. They are our foundation.
  • The shield of FAITH we are to take up at moments of spiritual warfare and opportunity.
“the fiery darts”
  • “In ancient warfare, these fiery darts were launched in great numbers at the beginning of an attack. The idea was not only to injure the enemy, but to shoot at him at all sides with a massive number of arrows, and thus to confuse and panic the enemy.” (Guzik)
  • “Even when such a missile was caught by the shield and did not penetrate to the body, says Livy, it caused panic, because it was thrown when well alight and its motion through the air made it blaze most fiercely, so that the soldier was tempted to get rid of his burning shield and expose himself to the enemy’s spear-thrusts. But the shield of faith not only catches the incendiary devices but extinguishes them.” (Bruce)
  • Satan is able to attack us with thoughts, feelings, imaginations, fears, and lies. Like fiery darts hurled at us to cause confusion and panic, all of these attacks are quenched and turned back by FAITH which shields us.

They are invisible ... like the wind and all things of the Spirit realm.

John 3:8
They are only invisible to those without a helmet of Salvation.
Keen eyes given by The Lord percieve, react, and move to The Lords Will.

Blessed be The Holy One
