Do you think every word in the book of Ecclesiastes is inspired holy scripture and if you do then what do you make of statements like these?
Ecclesiastes 1:2-4
  • Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.
  • What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?
  • A generation goes, and a generation comes, but the earth remains for ever.

Ecclesiastes 1:12-18
  • I the Preacher have been king over Israel in Jerusalem.
  • And I applied my mind to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under heaven; it is an unhappy business that God has given to the sons of men to be busy with.
  • I have seen everything that is done under the sun; and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.
  • What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be numbered.
  • I said to myself, "I have acquired great wisdom, surpassing all who were over Jerusalem before me; and my mind has had great experience of wisdom and knowledge."
  • And I applied my mind to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind.
  • For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.

In response to Ecclesiastes 1:2-4:
Colossians 3:1-4
"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory."

In response to Ecclesiastes 1:12-18:
1 Corinthians 3:18-20
“Do not deceive yourselves. If you think that you are wise in this age, you should become fools so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their craftiness,’ and again, ‘The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.'”

The book of Ecclesiastes is great that showing God is always trying to correct our way of thinking.
