THIS IS THE WEEK THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING!
From the moment of sin’s brokenness, God’s plan to redeem and restore it was in play.
"I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.” (Genesis 3:15)
The line was drawn. An ultimate battle would be waged by the Creator for the souls of His creation.
Every battle demands sacrifice. This battle demanded even more.
A champion was needed. One who would stand before the enemy and fight on our behalf.
This was a battle that would demand more than five smooth stones and a sling shot.
This battle required the horrible weapon of the cross and the judgment of the Creator to secure the victory.
At the perfect moment, Jesus, the Only Son of the Creator, the once-and-for-all-substitute, stepped forward, arms raised on the cross, and did what we could never do for ourselves. He interceded for us until the work was finished, until the price was paid, and satisfied the Creator’s requirements for redemption.
For God so loved the world . . .
In that moment, sin was forgiven. Creation was restored.
But, the Creator wasn’t done.
From an empty tomb came the shout that death, sin’s ultimate outcome, had been overcome.
Eternity was secured.
The result of the once-and-for-all work never stops.
It gloriously continues at every baptism and confession of faith.
All are invited – no one is left out.
For God so loved the world . . .
Don’t be lulled by familiarity this week.
Be Amazed. Worship. Celebrate. Declare.
This is the week that changed everything.
