So...people don't know? Or people don't care?

Not all the views are from registered members. Some will be lurkers who don't feel comfortable signing up and posting, so let's be encouraging instead of saying people don't care?

What's your answer?

And...Does God make us humble or is that something we do?

Yes, God humbles us. Look what He did to the Apostle Paul for one example:

1 Corinthians 15:9-10 For I am the least of all the apostles. In fact, I’m not even worthy to be called an apostle after the way I persecuted God’s church. But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.

Alright! You gave me a direct answer! Thank you very much!

That's a very good scripture, Sister. And the the Lord siad to Paul, my grace is sufficient for you!!

Now I do notice that your answer to any of my questions is always the same answer, Jesus does it in me, the Holy Spirit does it in me. You have not told me one thing that you do do in service of the Lord. What do you do that is not God directly doing it?

Now I could ask you have you ever opened your bible, but I wont. Instead, I'll post it for you and let the scripture speak for itself.

2nd Chronicles 7:14
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.../KJV

1st Peter 5:6
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time..../KJV

James 4:10
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up..../KJV

So it would seem as if you might have this a wee bit wrong. What do you think?

God does humble us. As we are not nor never will be better than anybody. Showing humility and kindness changes and makes the world be better. We need to also remember Christ is the way, truth, and the life. We need to decrease so that Christ can increase. John 3:30!

Do you realize that saying something like
Now I could ask you have you ever opened your bible

is very insulting. Why do you have to treat other Christians as such? I find it very difficult to want to even discuss with you at times, to be honest.

Humble yourselves.... kind of like when God said, "Let there be light" and there was light. "Humble yourselves" and God works in us and we are humbled.

Why do you keep avoiding the fact that the believer has the Holy Spirit dwelling within him?

Ultimately, being humbled means we recognize and acknowledge our dependence on God. Without faith, we wouldn't know what that means.

Can you reference a scripture where it says God humbles us?

Ultimately, being humbled means we recognize and acknowledge our dependence on God. Without faith, we wouldn't know what that means.

And God does that for us too?

In Colossians 3:
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye..../KJV

Because that says the ye do this also, as in, yourself.

And those other scriptures that say, Humble Yourselves, Humble yourselves...What do I do with them?

I wasn't sure if you could tell me what Humble means or not, as some stuff you say, I agree with so you know. But not always is all. Like this time. That's not being humble. What you said is more descriptive of Repentance or remorse. Coming to a saving knowledge of the Lord, Jesus the Christ.

Being Humble means to, afflict ones soul. I'll explain.

(God doesn't change), so lets go way back into Leviticus.

Leviticus 23:27, 32
27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord....

32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath..../KJV

What God is telling them to do is to make it a day of Fasting. denying themselves the food and delicacies that the soul craves. Give that food to the Lord in a fast instead. "Humble yourself."

See what I mean? To not be pretentious. When you go to a banquet, you don't walk up at sit at the chief table, you sit in the back until someone tells you to move! If you're giving a homeless guy 20 bucks, and he asks for more money, you give it to him. Even if it runs you short. Because Jesus said if you do it for them, then you're really doing it for me. SO if I was giving zJesus money to eat on and He asked for extra...would you turn Him down?!! Lol. That's being humble. Our soul doesn't like it. I want that extra money you had for a candy bar.

Next thing you know, you'll ask me how I know that humble means fasting, then I'll have to get out my notes and look for it. (I know it's there!)

when a person has a problem with pride they might overestimate their own knowledge or abilities and then be humbled when they fail. I know that I have had that experience before.
