They say it's helping but I don't see how, I think the distancing itself is what's helping.
They just started making us cooks wear them where I work and so now we are constantly touching around our face due to sweat and discomfort, plus now we have to wear gloves which means we don't know when change them out, washing and sanitising our hands came naturally because you know when it's time to wash... anyway I can't handle that because our vents aren't even working and the Texas heat is only going to get nastier.. so I put in my two weeks notice because of this false security scam.
I wear them in public if it's not an option, but even the container of the mask says it will jot help prevent the spread of the virus

I wear them when I go to a grocery store, hardware store, pick up takeout food or go to medical appointments but other than that no. I won't wear them outside when I'm doing anything because I live in the country. I refuse to wear one when I go to the parks either because I think it's stupid. Flatten the fear.

I wear them only when I'm required, no complaint. I have to wear them at work now in an office setting. Many years ago I had a job that I had to wear face masks, respirators and fresh air equipment just about everyday for 15 years. And except for lunch whenever I was in the facility I had to have something covering my face just about every minute of the day. Now having to wear a face mask a few weeks, months... doesn't bother me. I still even have a few boxes of N95 masks that were given to me from my previous employer.

I wear one when inside a store, because the store requires it. If I'm in the store for any length of time I pull it down so I can breathe more easily. I refuse to wear them if I'm just going outside - I seldom come within six feet of anyone else and if people don't like me not wearing a mask they are free to stay away from me.

I don't go outside so there is no need to wear a mask lol. Sorry if I sound uneducated, but do they even make a difference? Doesn't really prevent you from contracting the virus but I've heard that it prevents you from spreading it.

The scraps of cloth people wear in front of their faces do almost nothing as far as protecting them is concerned. The theory is that they help protect others - if you have the virus the cloth catches droplets before they spread into the air.

How well they work, and what health risks they carry for the person wearing them, are subject to much debate. When people wear things so low over their faces that their nose and much of their mouth is exposed they might as well not bother at all, but are still technically complying with requirements to "wear a mask".

Apparently the WHO is saying that asymptomatic transmission is very rare. So that would suggest that a lack of symptoms means a lack of purpose in wearing a mask. Maybe - and this is a radical idea - the best thing to do is to say that people with symptoms should stay home and everyone else can get on with their lives.

Here, if you don't wear a mask you can't get into a Walmart. The greeters stop you. It's ridiculous once inside. Stickers at the mouth of newly designed aisles, "one way in- ENTER HERE" "one way out -NO ENTRY".The new floor plan started to shift well before Covid-19 made news, so that now barely two carts can pass one another in one aisle. Unlike before. No one pays attention to the arrows. Then every now and then a prerecorded announcement reiterates the aisle rules of one way in and one way out.
We never wear a mask out of doors. But we see people with them on in their own cars.

It makes no sense. Also, why do we have to wear a mask and remain at least 6 feet apart still?
A local laundromat owner, who also owns the whole strip mall where merchants do business, is practicing his own revolution. No one has to wear masks in any of the stores if they don't want to. I don't blame him. They're hot! And in our summer it's no fun to sweat even with the top of the mask pulled down just a bit under the nose so as to not breathe and make one's facial area even hotter for being contained behind the mask. No matter the material it's made of.

Virologists that aren't part of the government solution for this thing are at a loss. Saying that these measures are worthless. But mask manufacturers are making a fortune. As are hand sanitizer manufacturers.
Even designers are starting to make fashion for the rich that include stylish masks. That leads me to believe this isn't going to be over with anytime soon.

This whole thing is getting way out of line though when churches are being targeted by law enforcement for conducting Sunday services outside in the parking lot. Parishioners are in their cars, windows up, the sermon playing through a special system for broadcast, and yet police are prosecuting the pastors.
That tells me this leg of it isn't about remaining safe from this new flu strain. It's something far more. God forbid, if Biden wins the office of President, we just might see what that is. Pay attention to whom he picks as his VP. Because that is the President that will actually run the country.

Yeah, I never understood why the people in cars in the parking lots of their churches were told to go home. That never made any sense at all. If you're in your car how can you spread the virus?

Everybody knows the virus gains deadliness when it crosses the threshold of a church (and the parking lot counts as part of the church). Crossing the threshold of Wally World renders it impotent, at least until it's carried outside.

If it were ever to cross the threshold of a voting booth it would strike everyone inside dead within seconds, it's that dangerous.

I read an interesting article that gathers other research and claims that wearing a mask makes no measurable difference.

Apparently the author posted it and it was only recently deleted. The newfound trend to delete and censor anything that disagrees with the official narrative is concerning. If nothing else it's junk science to simply censor anything that goes against the status quo, even if the status quo is correct.

I remember an article giving percentages of the efficacy of different materials when making homemade masks but no one seems to post that anymore.

Now it's just about endlessly repeating the mantra - if you don't wear a mask you're killing Grandma. And they wonder why people don't listen.

Do you kill grandma if you riot/loot and destroy her community?

Obviously not. If you go outside without a mask (unless you're looting) you kill Grandma. If you burn her house down while she's still inside it that's her fault for being white. Or old. Or rich. Or something like that.

I thought everybody knew that the virus doesn't spread if you're rioting, as long as you're rioting for a suitably woke cause.
