Do you think that converts from Protestantism to one or another of the Orthodoxies leads to the convert carrying over from Protestantism whatever prejudices and misapprehensions about Catholicism they had as Protestants to Orthodoxy?

In the beginning it can cause them to hang onto their beliefs. I've seen some threads in the Lutheran groups on Facebook of people who can't quite grasp some of the doctrine because their former beliefs are still there. It doesn't always happen though, and some of the people who know the Lutheran doctrine the best are the ones who have changed from another denomination.

What would keep me from converting to Catholicism is that church's establishment of a separate tradition that isn't supported by the Scriptures like the ideas about Mary and praying to her and the saints. I understand that the church replaced a pagan Queen of Heaven with Mary at its beginning and the pagan gods with the saints. Both ideas along with purgatory have no basis in the Bible.
