I’m not arguing against the closure of the canon. In fact, I rather agree with that.

But I don’t see why God should be put in a box and told that He can’t use someone today to prophesy the future.
In the OT, the Spirit was with the believer. Now, since Pentecost, the Spirit is IN the believer.

“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” John 14:17 (KJV 1900)

So, we have God's direction for every choice we make in our hearts.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13 (KJV 1900)

Paul said prophecy would cease 1 Corinthians 13:8. Peter says scripture does a better job 2 Peter 1:18–21.

For a complete rebuttal of the Charismatic movement, see Douglas Judisch. An Evaluation of Claims to the Charismatic Gifts. It settles it once and for all.
