There are some huge disasters happening (flooding in Louisiana and fires in California) and I barely hear anything in the news about it but a brief clip. Are people immune now to the horrors of natural disaster or is the media the one to blame for their apathy?
A lot of what I see in the media looks like it's about pushing an agenda rather than informing. Then there's the social media that's about turning everything into a (usually silly) meme, as often as not to make a political point that often doesn't stand up to a lot of scrutiny.
The main thing I've heard about the Louisiana flooding is a bunch of posts asking why the white police are doing more than Black Lives Matter to help black people suffering as a result of the floods, paired with a bunch of memes about Trump visiting the floods while Obama didn't (depending on how you want to spin it, either Trump cares about people suffering while Obama would rather play golf, or Trump is shamelessly promoting himself while Obama is trying not to tie up police presence on security when they are needed elsewhere).
