I have read that Paul always maintained he was taught directly by Christ after his will and emotions were captured on the road to Damascus.
He said 'the mystery was made known me by revelation'. Certainly Paul was the biggest of influences build the early church, with a big portion of the New Testament attributed to him.

There is such truth resonating from all Paul said. We can be so inspired that a personal relationship with Christ is the most vital thing. He himself always wondered how someone as bad as he could possibly have been chosen this way. So there is plenty of hope for everyone, no matter what their sins.

I regularly reflect on Paul's life and ministry. Single, celibate, and sent. Certainly a hard act to follow unless God gives a measure of faith to endure and enjoy a similar sojourn.

Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
