There was a local photo going around and people were split on whether it was a fox with mange or a coyote. Could you tell the difference from a distance of whether an animal was a fox or a coyote?

Coyotes are significantly taller than foxes and generally just larger overall. Also, in the picture, why would a fox with mange look like a coyote? Does the animal look like it has mange or not? Not all foxes are red, they can be different colors. In Florida we have both the red fox and grey fox species, and they can also be different colors. Foxes are much smaller animals in general, but if the picture lacked scale or if the animal was sitting or low on the ground it could be difficult to tell......but I am pretty sure I could tell the difference. I have seen both in the wild here.
