I got to meet some of them on my dad's side when I was a toddler. I was afraid of them because they were so old and one of my cousins told me that if I touched them I would get wrinkles too so I didn't like to go near them LOL

What an evil thing to say... 😐
No, I've never known mine. My maternal great-grandmother died when I was a toddler, but I don't remember her.

No, I didn't know any of them. I am learning about them now that I am doing some genealogy and family research.

I had hear a lot about my great-grandfather on my father's side.

I didn't know any of them, I think they had all died by the time I was born.

How mean of your cousin! You didn't know any better as a toddler!

I barely remember my grandmothers and I never met either of by grandfathers. My husband's grandfather is still alive and we try to visit Papaw as often as we can. He still has a head full of hair and works in his garden every day. I pray that we will both age gracefully like him!

I had the honor of knowing my maternal Great-Grandmother who passed away when I was 18. A beautiful lady and a wonderful Christian.

I didn’t even meet either of my grandfathers.
My mom’s father died when she was 15 y/o.

My dad’s father left when my father was young, moved and changed his name.
About a year ago one his daughters took a DNA test and was able to contact my niece.
Everything checked out so we now have a lot more information of his second part of his life and they know more about the earlier part of his life.

I remember great grandparents on my mom's side only. One side had a big property with beautiful lawn where the family would gather and great grandpa would play the accordion and we would dance around while great grandma would bring out the refreshments and treats. I loved going there! On the other side, my great grandpa died before I met him, but my great granny and I had a close relationship. For her last few years I would see her about once a week for lunch. I have a beautiful picture of her holding my son. Though my grandpa died in 1976, we had a picture of him in our photo so it would represent five generations, the oldest holding the youngest. Precious moments.... she passed away and her funeral was on my 30th birthday.

I had a lovely conversation with my mom this evening and she was telling about her parents. I barely knew my grandmother and I never met my grandfather. My mom let me know that she will write what she remembers about them in the journal I had given her last year. I'm really looking forward to reading it. I wish she lived closer but I talk to her daily which helps.

When I was little I got freaked out in a visit to a nursing home when one of the residents reached out and either grabbed me or tried to.
