Even with all the great advances, did you expect tech to be better by now?

It would be nice if more stuff actually worked. Instead we just get the trite "Something went wrong" kind of error message, that tells us nothing about whether the issue is something we did, something with an internet connection, the remote server, or what.

Still, VOIP technology means we get to wait on hold for half an hour before being connected to someone in India who doesn't understand the problem and won't go off script to try and resolve it.

I don't believe in the notion that all technology that is the most beneficial and helpful to mankind is promoted to the masses. That is one of the reasons I go down rabbit holes. Not just technology, but in other subjects as well, such as accepted history, for example. Sometimes I find something interesting, sometimes I find a dead end.

Occulting (which means - hiding) information is important to special interests that don't want to see their monopolies threatened. Most people assume the opposite. They think that if X was a good tech, why isn't everyone using it. I had this conversation with a relative recently, and he asked me "if X can do that, why isn't everyone doing it?" He basically assumed that the media sources he listens to would of course inform him about it and that the masses are correct.

Well, I guess I do. There are times I am using the technology and it doesn't work the way I want it too. I mean why doesn't this thing know what I need instead of what it wants to do.

Yes!! I get that when I go to some websites and it doesn't function like I need.

It annoys me intensely when I'm trying to type in what I need and the site is very slow to respond because it's endlessly trying to second guess what I might be typing to save me a few strokes. If it would quit giving me 100 possibilities I could have finished typing it by now.

Or it lets you type something in, click the "search" button only to decide it needs to reload something so what you typed goes is cleared and you have to type it again. And that's before checking to make sure something is in stock only to drive out to the store and find it isn't actually in stock. The best fail I had on that front was a place that had something in stock, let me enter an online order for it to reserve it, confirmed it was ready for collection so I went out to collect it only to find they not only didn't have it but hadn't stocked that item in months. The cashier called the store manager to try and find out what had happened and all he could do was offer his apologies because he couldn't explain why the system let me place an order for something they didn't sell any more. The cashier hadn't even heard of the product.
