DC Comics to release controversial ‘Second Coming’ of Jesus

""The conceit is that God was so upset with Jesus’ performance the first time he came to Earth since he was arrested so soon and crucified shortly after, that he has kept him locked-up since then," he told Bleeding Cool, a comic-focused news site. "God then sees this superhero on Earth a few thousand years later and says, 'that’s what I wanted for you!'""

Yet another atheist who doesn't know that Jesus is God or the point of Jesus' death and resurrection.

Here's an example of how Christian tolerance can show our different approach.
Had the comic attacked Mohammed, there would be rioting around the globe against DC. Since it attacks Jesus, Christians will accept the attack, yet disapprove...knowing that the writer does not know what he does. We will forgive his ignorance.

I have friends from art school who create comic books and I cringe at the thought of them gloating about bad Jesus who couldn't get it right :( Some would say it could be a teaching moment but their ears are so closed.

None of us do. That's why there are multiple atonement theories and people haven't been able to come to a consensus about the point of his death and resurrection for almost 2000 years.

The point of Jesus' death and resurrection was for our salvation.

The very notion of the verb "to need" is incompatible with the existence of an omnipotent Being. Why did blood need to be shed? Because the life of a being is in its blood, right? Well, who made it that way and why? God did. Could He have made it any other way? Omnipotence says He could have. Then there was no need for blood to be shed. You could say that it was His will to do so, sure, but there was no need for it to happen.

God required blood to be shed as part of His plan to provide a Savior for us. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Someone needed to die for sin and we aren't pure enough for our own deaths to be acceptable enough. The prophet Zechariah spoke of the Messiah being pierced. This blood pouring out is proof of death.

There is a lot of bad stuff in comics, but I don't think every comic is bad. Nor do I think every comic is based on Greek gods. What about Nordic gods?

Why?

Why?

The wages of sin is death because our sin keeps us from being with God. Jesus died to cover those wages and we won't spiritually die now. We are given new life in Him.
