Greetings one and all! I'm Sgt. Pepper, and I'd like to welcome you to my music appreciation thread.

You're welcome to participate. I invite you to post your favorite song(s). Feel free to share why the songs you chose are important to you. There is no limit to how many you can share. I'd like to say that my thread is meant to be welcoming and lighthearted. Its purpose is to enjoy music, not debate it.

I love listening to music, and I can't imagine my life without it. To quote Albert Einstein, “If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.” Again, everyone is welcome to post their favorite songs.

To show my appreciation of the Fab Four, I'd like to start with sharing my two favorite songs released by them. The songs are Nowhere Man and Let It Be. Both of these songs touch my heart more than any other song by The Beatles. I'm including the lyrics, as well as a video of them singing live.

☮ and ❤
Sgt. Pepper

Nowhere Man
Rubber Soul Album (1965)
written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon

He's a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command

He's as blind as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?

Nowhere Man, don't worry
Take your time, don't hurry
Leave it all till somebody else lends you a hand

Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command

He's a real Nowhere Man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

Let It Be
Let It Be (1970)
written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be

And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

And when the brokenhearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be

For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow
Let it be

I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

A current favorite of mine. The band had the courage to leave behind their history doing death metal and see where their creativity could take them. This is a fine example. Lyrics in Swedish:

Great thread!

This is Daniel Johnston, he was known as an "outsider artist" for his lo-fi home tape recordings and his childlike singing voice.
He suffered mental illness his entire life and put his heart and soul into every song he wrote and his home tapes and performances in the 1980s attracted a large cult fan base that ultimately got him a record deal. On the roster of the record label was a band called Metallica which Daniel despised calling them "devil worshippers" and hesitated greatly whether or not to sign on.
Being a Christian Daniel always encouraged people to pray and follow Jesus..

Here is one of his songs he used to spread the gospel to his fans

Not to most peoples' taste.... lyrics are in the video. It's a less conventional take on the Easter story.

November 19, 2000, the Fab Four started an eleven-week run at No. 1 on the UK album chart with The Beatles 1. The album is the first complication of Beatles' songs available on one CD. It was a best-selling album, with over 31 million copies sold.
