I fully realize that any video more than 5 minutes long never gets viewed, but just to show I (at times) do things I know are... well..... this one is nearly an hour long and besides that, very academic and detailed (rather than fun and entertaining) and sadly it has numerous commercials. But it's filled with insights you probably have never heard (and blows away from very common misconceptions).

ENTIRELY different perspective of ...

+ when Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem
+ what was "the inn"
+ what was "the manger"
+ was the innkeeper a meanie
+ what is meant by Joseph as a "just" man
+ why did the shepherds give thanks to God for all they had seen and heard
+ where did "the wise men" come from

One of my favorite Christians carols....

Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God

Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know?

Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know?

The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb
Mary did…

Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know?
Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Oh
Mary did you know?

I like this in part because this song by Buddy Greene really stresses the nature of Christ, His two natures, and His mission.

The video is gone. Merry Christmas to everyone anyways! :)

The link goes to a radio program podcast. I'll try to listen to it soon.

We are doing our Christmas shopping soon. We have to get stuff for my sister in laws boys. Then we will get presents for each other. Don't know what I want for Christmas this year. I really just want to see my family again. It's been years.

I find shopping for presents very difficult... and rejoice that my beloved has taken this up!

Truth is: RARELY does anyone actually NEED anything. So, thinking of something they'd enjoy/appreciate but wouldn't think to buy for themselves.... that's tough.

I can understand why it's growingly popular to just give them a gift certificate, but it's a cop out. It's just giving them money which they likely don't need, UNLESS it is maybe to a specific restaurant they've never been to but would LOVE or something of that nature. I use to give tickets to a playhouse, so they could see a good play but I'm not sure it was always appreciated. I've given a good bottle of wine or booze before too, but again.... It's hard.

It always reminds me of MY childhood (see below)....

Merry Christmas!

I was not given presents...

Actually, I did get Christmas presents until I was 13... and even then, it was only my parents who stopped giving me Christmas presents. I never needed ANYTHING and rarely really WANTED something.

I knew it was coming, being the youngest of 3. For each of us, the first Christmas as teens, Mom and Dad gave us no gifts.... maybe something small and FUN under the tree, but that's all.

What I got was an allowance... significant (and growing each year).... an amount of money I could GIVE AWAY. I could give the money to charity, any I chose, and Dad would send the check IN MY NAME. Some of the things I chose was: The Boy Scouts of America, a theatre company I was involved with, a pro-life abortion alternative center, the humane center in my city at the time and an orphanage in Mexico our church was involved with. I felt really good about that.

I've discussed this with my wife and we've agreed to do that with our children.... but not until they are teens.

Merry Christmas!

I need to get all my presents bought and wrapped so I can mail them out on Tuesday. It's rough when you're not quite sure what to get some people who have everything they need. But I'm almost done. It's just been hectic since my daughter and I are sharing a car so she can get to work.

I remember me and my sister sitting upstairs at my grandmothers house and trying to convince ourselves that the red blinking light on the radio tower a few miles away was rudolph's nose. I remember being really excited about getting up Christmas morning and tearing into presents. I was spoiled rotten and will admit it.

My parents were good about Christmas, at a fairly early age we knew that it was Dad who did the presents under the tree thing, but we still were all excited in the days leading up to Christmas day. Ours was an effectively atheist household so the story of Christ was only vaguely known.

My sister and I would squeeze every present under the tree to try to figure out what they were. Mostly they were socks and underwear LOL Those were the things we needed.

Maybe Mary didn't know. I recall that at one point during the ministry of Jesus, Mary and some of her other sons came to take Jesus away because they thought him insane. Did she forget being visited by angels, being miraculously impregnated, the virgin birth, the choirs of angels, the incident in the Temple at the circumcision, again at his coming of age. Did she forget all that??

My parent's Christmas meal is prime rib. My wife's family tradition is ham.

I suggested we have Mexican food.... a variety of enchiladas and tacos, rice and beans.

Everyone just shook their heads and ignored me.

We're having ham.
