In the Shawshank Redemption there is a Christ-figure. Script writers come with baggage to their scripts. The title of this film points to the baggage that its script writers were carrying. The main article of baggage is the author of the book upon which it is based. Stephen King. He's a man who frequently has Christ images in his stories. In this one the Christ figure is Andy Dufresne. He enters prison as a "long tall drink of water" who the hardened prisoners expect to break the first night he is there but he does not break, he is silent and serene. If you've seen the film and especially if you have a copy of it watch it again and look for Jesus in the way Andy lives his life. You may be surprised.
The Shawshank Redemption is one of those films from which you walk away - having watched it - feeling better. You may not know exactly why but you feel better. The secret reason for your feeling is that the film is a story of Christ hidden in an idiom we never think of as religious.
